Meet the Doctor
Dr. Means graduated from Strong Vincent High School in Erie, after which he attended Edinboro State College for four years. He spent the next four years at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. Following dental school, Dr. Means was commissioned a Captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps where he spent the next two years as an Army dentist at Ft. Polk, La. He, his wife Carla, and baby daughter then moved to Edinboro because Dr. Means accepted an associate dentist position in the pediatric dentistry practice of Dr. Frank Petinatto in Erie. Several months later, Dr. Means opened his own general dentistry office where he practiced complete family dentistry for 28 years.
In October of 2009, Dr. Means purchased the "Old Post Office" building at 99 Erie Street in Edinboro, which he remodeled into an ultra modern dental office, which is now known as Means Family Dentistry, for the purpose of treating ADULTS and CHILDREN. Dr. Means has been a member of the American Dental Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Association, and the Erie County Dental Association. He was a founding member of the Northwest Pennsylvania Dental Study Club. He has received the high honor of being named a Fellow in the American Academy of General Dentistry as well as the Academy of Dentistry Internationale. He is certified by the Pennsylvania State Dental Board to administer nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia to his patients who can benefit from it.
